January 2003
After last month's debacle over church cops, The Committee decided to do
something on the level, no jokes, no messing around, just plain good old
photographs. So, they had a choice. We have great photographs of
white police cars lost in the Christmas blizzard in New York, which was my
top pick. But they said they wanted to forget that whole mess and give
somebody some warm and fuzzy feelings during the winter's harshest month.
So they decided to give you the Florida Highway Patrol. Ah, yes, Florida.
The sunshine state. Land of oranges, beaches, taxi cabs and oil stained
driveways.

| Must have been some kind of big event
going on down below the bridge, maybe they had discovered the world's
biggest gator. Here's 1946 Ford leading a pack of what looks like
dignitary-type vehicles.
|
| Here's a 49 Ford. Why does it
seem like the thing to do in Florida is to park in the middle of the
road and then have everybody stand around chatting?
|
| And if they aren't parked in the
middle of the road, they are drag racing. Here's a 1953 and a 1954
Ford
|
| Faster than a speeding bullet, more
chrome than a locomotive. However that saying goes. It's a
1953 Pontiac and one proud Trooper
|
| Figures. The old guy gets Miss
Florida 1965 while the poor Trooper gets his hand slammed in the door of
his 65 Plymouth.
|

| And wouldn't we be just a little
remiss if we didn't bring you a color photo? Alright, not the
greatest photo but it's a 72, a Mopar and more specifically, a Dodge
Polara. Four good reasons not to leave it out.
|

| Speaking of Mopars, four 1980
Plymouths follow behind FHPs restored cruiser during some kind of
parade. Wonder if FHP still has this old car?
