February 2002
This month, we are excited about a recent discovery we made. We found out
exactly where the Chaplains of the Connecticut State Police buy their black Ford
police cars. In the remote little town of Lyman, South Carolina, we were
able to view the vehicles that will later spread the Lord's work throughout the
CSP. Following that, they are destined to become collector's cars and sold
through a Michigan car dealer for three times their worth. Eventually,
they will end up on the Autotrader when the new buyer decides he can't pay his
constant fines for running around with the blue lights on.

Lyman is the perfect place for the CSP
Chaplain to shop. The car's already black and has the blue light in place.
A little blow dryer action and the Lyman
decals will come off just fine.
This 92 Crown Vic is already well on its
way to becoming a Chaplain's car.
The Chaplains turn their head to Lyman
because it is a department steeped in tradition. More than 30 years of
solid black police units.
Such a selection can be found in the
parking lot of the Lyman PD. Cars span a decade. Here's a 94.
And of course, the most infamous Lyman car,
the 1971 "REAL" Ford police package pressed into service by the CSP
Chaplains and now for sale on Autotrader On-line. This beauty comes with a
full history including documentation on when it was used as the Popemobile when
Pope John visited Connecticut. In the glove box, you'll also find the
criminal histories of the previous owners, arrested while driving around two
different states impersonating. As the current owner says, it's "a
very special car".
