March 2001
March. It's an angry month. You can have winter storms, spring storms,
sunny days and gray days. That's why everyone knows the old saying:
March comes in like a Mustang and goes out like a.... I bet you thought I
was gonna say Crown Vic... well, I guess we have to wait and see what the
April copcar of the Month is before you'll know the answer to that.

of the road
What
better way to cruise the beaches of Fort Lauderdale and pick up chics than a
Mustang. This 94 was in-service with the Broward County Sheriff

With
vented wheels and small center caps, this cobalt blue 84-85 Pony actually looked
somewhat "coppish" Note the interesting light bar.
Florence, Oregon.

Oregon
State Police used that same low profile light bar, actually what appear to be
two single-light rotators, circa 1983. Oregon found that these
weren't bright enough and discontinued their use.

Michigan's
93 Mustangs came with the ugly alloy wheels, which no respectable copcar should
be equipped with.

Because
of North Carolina's minimum height requirement of 6'6" and the General
Order of "hats required at all times", they ordered all convertibles
for their Mustang fleet.

New York State Police Mustangs came
specially fitted with a sand truck that attached to the deck lid, rear window
and roof. It was easily removed for summer time driving.
Anderson, SC never heard of those low
profile lights. Their 600 pound bar caught so much wind that the top speed
of their Pony was 38.5.
