Remembering 9-11-01.
We will not forget!

April 2000

Each month, copcar dot com flies The Committee to Hayes, Kansas where they meet at the Ramada Inn next to the airport. Hayes happens to be the geological center for The Committee members. They painstakingly sort through thousands of photographs until they come up with just the right vehicle to showcase as the copcar of the Month.

Working with tight parameters, The Committee was bound and determined to come up with THE most popular police vehicle of all times. The guidelines were: it had to be the longest running, most endurable (okay, that was supposed to be durable but it also turns out to be the most ENDURABLE, too), fastest, most known, yada yada yada. Heck, it was such a wide range of parameters that even I have forgotten.

Once The Committee was finished with their selection, they flew back to their respective homes and notified me of their selection. I was so happy with it that I felt like a little girl in spring. I couldn't wait for the debut of these photographs and I decided to make a contest out of it. And so, copcar dot com decided to do A CONTEST! On the table was a grand prize of ALL EXPENSES paid travel to EVERY copcar show in the WORLD for a year. Second prize: your choice of any ex-cop car being sold on E Bay, regardless of cost. And the third prize, a free copy of any future police car books by Ed Sanow.

The guesses were hot and heavy. Leading the list were those Mopar guys, figuring on a 69 Polara:

Definitely one of the best copcars of all time... could it be?

Of course, there's the "other" type of Mopar fans, those that believe the M body cars of the 80's are tops in the copcar race:

Well, at a "dime-a-dozen", it certainly could be construed as the most popular.... could it be?

What other contest entries did we have? Hmmm. Well lets see we heard from the Ford 429 ci fans:
But, unbelievably, not a SINGLE Crown Victoria was mentioned

We even heard from the horse lobby. They said I was probably pulling some sort of April Fool's joke or something.

Now really, people, I DO take copcar dot com as a SERIOUS venture. Would I make horses a "copconveyance" of the Month? Not hardly.

And some thoughtful surfer even sent in his guess, feebly hoping to contribute:

The Bates police shoe.

So now (drumroll, please), The Committee presents you with the copcar of the Month for April 2000:
