June 2000
Ahh, June.
Summertime's here again. School's out. Catfish are jumping. The cotton
is high. The weather is nice. Time to think about a little getaway,
retreat, respite, holiday, extended weekend, break, vacation- whatever
you want to call it. Contrary to popular belief, the cops are human too
and we like to take a little time off as much as the next guy.
So June is the month that the chiefs, sheriffs and their assistants
gather up all the new young rookies and deputies, pile into the vacation
cruiser and head off to the sticks for a little R & R.
copcar dot com brings you: copWinnebagos

Here's what
the NYPD uses to take the rookies upstate to visit Niagara Falls:

A rare glimpse of the DC Metro PD on their way to a weekend visit to Mt
Vernon.

In Fond Du Lac County Wisconsin, the sheriff treats all the new deputies
to a splash-tastic wet-n-wild weekend at the famous Wisconsin Dells.

Washington County, WI, they prefer a quiet 3 day weekend touring various
cheese factories and some mischievous late-night cow-tipping. Those
troublemakers.....

In Eden Prairie, MN, they head to the Mall of America for their vacation
to ride the rollercoasters and shop at The Gap.

Back in 1965, the LA County Sheriff would pack up the newbies and head
to Anaheim when there was only one Disneyland: THE REAL ONE

That LA sheriff thought of everything, including bringing along the
mobile canteen so the deputies wouldn't have wait in the long Disneyland
lines for Mickey Mouse sno-cones.

And then there's Dallas: "Load 'em up. boys, we're headin' fer the
Dude Ranch"
Now break out the suntan lotion and have a great vacation. |
