Summer is here in North America and
it's time to head for the open range. But who protects all those
wild horses and buffaloes that roam the west? The Bureau of Land
Management, that's who. Like, you never see these guys unless you
drive a Hummer. So, we're going on patrol in the Outback US.
copcar dot com
presents: United States
BLM Rangers

| Driving around the
wilds in the Tucson area among the Saguaro and Golden Barrel
cacti, the Rangers aren't exactly driving Crown Vics. When
these guys come on the discussion board at copcar, it's that
dreaded Wrangler-Tahoe debate. |

| Rangers have to lift
the Tahoe four inches before they go into service. The
Tahoe is better suited for soccer moms unless modifications are
made. |

| Hi-tech has come the
BLM. No more sitting around the camp fire with the horses.
Now the vehicles are equipped with a Global Positioning System,
and a remote control spot light, visible here mounted on the
hood. |

| I know we'll catch
flack for this but this IS summer in St. George, Utah.
Here, one of only two Wranglers in the BLM Ranger car pool makes
it's way up a snow trail. |

| Try doing this in a
Caprice. A Jeep 9C1 Wrangler thumps it over the rocks in
Utah. |

| There isn't much
water out west but where there is, you'll find the Rangers
paddling upstream in the Jeeps. Thanks to Mark
Harris for the pictures. |
Remember, only YOU
can prevent forest fires! |
